Being You

'Being you' is a citywide campaign to reduce stigma and raise awareness of access to services around young peoples mental health issues.

The material has been developed through extensive consultation with a number of young people outlining both needs and issues as well as the feel and look.

A toolkit was produced to complement the citywide campaign supporting PSHE and cross-curricular delivery of the secondary SEAL curriculum. The material is adaptable to reach a range of abilities and ages appropriate to a young person's needs.

Funding for the wider campaign came from 'Communities for Health', the city-wide campaign included large posters on bus shelters, postcards, posters and an A6 booklet for young people. Cartoon characters are used on all the campaign material and this imagery is followed up throughout the supporting toolkit. The toolkit carries lesson plans and a CD with young people's voices as well as the entire lesson plans. Local and national support is also highlighted within the kit.

With the financial support of 'Communities for Health' we have been able to extensively promote this campaign across the city targeting the areas with the largest footfall of young people.
